Ingredients
- 2 cups masa harina
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
Instructions
- Mix the masa harina and salt, then add the water and knead into a soft dough like Play-Doh. Add water a spoonful at a time if it cracks.
- Cover and rest 15 minutes, then divide into 16 balls.
- Press each ball between two pieces of plastic in a tortilla press (or with a heavy pan) to about 5 inches.
- Cook on a hot dry skillet 1 minute, flip and cook 1 minute, then flip again for 30 seconds. They may puff.
- Stack in a towel-lined basket so they steam and soften.
Notes: If the edges crack when pressed, the dough is too dry. Knead in another tablespoon of water. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
